Weight loss surgery at Southcoast.
One day for surgery. A lifetime of support.
Nearly 400,000 Americans die prematurely each year of obesity-related complications such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Millions of Americans fall into the category of clinically severe obesity — more than 100 pounds overweight with a body mass index greater than 40. (Body mass index is a calculation of weight in relation to height.)
Bariatric surgery has been endorsed by a consensus panel convened by the National Institutes of Health as the only effective means of inducing significant long-term weight loss for the vast majority of patients with morbid obesity.
The Southcoast Center for Weight Loss is designed to incorporate a thorough approach to weight loss surgery utilizing a team comprised of dieticians, psychologists, nurses and surgeons to provide a safe and comprehensive surgical weight loss program.
The care at the Southcoast Center for Weight Loss far exceeds national quality standards. In fact, Southcoast is designated as an accredited center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation & Quality Improvement Program for its demonstrated track record of consistent, favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
Potential patients must attend a free informational session to learn more about bariatric surgery and explain the risks and benefits. Information sessions are held regularly each month at locations throughout the South Coast.
The Southcoast Center for Weight Loss also offers a comprehensive medical weight loss program in conjunction with OPTIFAST®.
