About Donald Colacchio

A graduate of Dartmouth Medical School, Dr. Colacchio completed a residency in General Surgery at Millard Filmore Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., where he served as chief resident. He also did a fellowship in Surgical Research at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo.

He has served as a staff surgeon at a number of military hospitals in the Army and most recently was a staff surgeon at Parkland Medical Center in New Hampshire.

He has extensive training and expertise in laparoscopic general surgery and is board certified in general surgery.

  • I am very impressed withSouthcoast. Everyone was willing to help and answer all my questions. They helped me with the paperwork I needed. I did not wait long to be seen by th Doctor. I was treated very well.

  • I have gallstones that came up in an ultrasound. The doc met with me for no more than 10 mins stating that I needed to get surgery without discussing options or side effects of the surgery. I left a little weary about having the surgery but went to the front desk to ask if I could get an EOB(estimate of benefit) for the removal of the gallbladder. She told me she didn't know what an EOB was and said I need to contact my own health insurance. I work in the industry and know that the patient should not have to do. Overall - not particularly pleased with my visit.

  • Going to the doctor, even for a follow up makes me nervous...This facility was easy to get to, kind front office staff, appointment on time and patience with my numerous questions of recovery and even finishing paperwork at end with conversation was calming. I appreciate the kindness!

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Helpfulness of Clerks & Receptionists, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
