The Peripheral Artery Disease Supervised Exercise Program at Southcoast Health is a structured exercise and education program for individuals with intermittent claudication due to peripheral artery disease.  Here is what you can expect:

  • Individualized exercise program within a group setting and directed by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals
  • Heart rate, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring during exercise session
  • Information on risk factor modification to decrease progression of your disease and risk for heart attack or stroke  (i.e., diet, exercise, smoking cessation, diabetes management, and foot care)
  • Classes are 45 – 60 minutes and held throughout the day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Duration of program is 12 weeks


  • Decrease in symptoms when walking
  • Increase the distance you are able to walk without pain
  • Improve endurance for activity
  • Enhance your quality of life and feeling of well being
  • Discover that you may enjoy a better lifestyle with the help of education, exercise and self-knowledge
