This month's blood drive schedule on the Southcoast Health Van

Give a pint ~ Save a life

When you give blood at the Southcoast Blood Bank, you are helping keep the local blood supply strong.

It's easy to donate — you can give blood at the Southcoast Blood Bank just off the main lobby at St. Luke's Hospital or out in the community on the Southcoast Health Van or at a local blood drive.

When you donate blood at St. Luke's Hospital it stays local, saving the lives of individuals right here in the South Coast region.

You can also double your donation with our new Double Red Cell program, which allows you to give two units of much-needed red cells at a single donation.

Stop by the Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital anytime Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays until 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or call 508-961-5320 to make an appointment.

And thank you for being a blood donor — and being a hero!

The Southcoast Blood Bank is located just off the main lobby at St. Luke's Hospital.

When you donate blood at St. Luke's Hospital it stays local, saving the lives of individuals right here in the South Coast region.

The Southcoast Blood Bank is 80 percent self-supporting, meaning that 80 percent of the blood used in the hospital comes from local volunteer donors.

All of the blood is used at our three hospitals sites: Charlton Memorial in Fall River, St. Luke's in New Bedford and Tobey in Wareham.

Typically, Southcoast uses nearly 1,200 pints of blood a month.

The whole blood donation process — from the interview through the actual donating — usually takes 20 to 25 minutes.
