St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary donates more than $118,000 to Maternity Center

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Southcoast Health announced today that the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $118,000 as part of its five year $500,000 pledge to the Stoico/FIRSTFED Maternity Center at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford

Funds from the pledge will assist in reimbursing capital expenses used to renovate and expand the Maternity Center. The balance of the pledge after this second installment is $215,000.

At their annual meeting held on September 20 at Bittersweet Farm in Westport, Auxiliary President Gary Simmons presented the check to Southcoast Health Leadership. The guest speaker was Ranger Josh Boles the Chief of Interpretation and Education of the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.

The St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to render service to St. Luke’s Hospital, its tax-exempt subsidiaries, its patients and to assist in promoting the health and welfare of the community.
