Faces of Care at Southcoast

Three new physicians are accepting patients

Dr. John Cava

Cardiologist

Formerly an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Cava has expertise in nuclear cardiology, vascular medicine and lipidology. He is also a clinical instructor of medicine at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School.

Dr. Cava’s personal philosophy of care is simple: Do the right thing. “There will be good and bad outcomes. As long as you always try to do the right thing you will have a long and rewarding career with no regrets,” he says. Dr. Cava follows three rules to build a successful medical practice:

  1. Always tell the truth.
  2. If you say you are going to do something, be sure to do it.
  3. Always return phone calls.

Dr. Daniel Miller

Internist

Dr. Miller has an interest in community medicine and is fluent in Spanish. He is an HIV medicine specialist and is skilled in outpatient hepatitis C treatment and management. He is also experienced in Suboxone and addiction medicine.

Dr. Miller makes patient safety and the principle of “do no harm” the bedrock of every patient encounter. “I then build on this by applying my best clinical skills, knowledge, communication and compassion to target and develop a treatment plan that will make a positive impact for that patient at that visit,” he says. “Patients want to know that they are being listened to and cared about more than anything.”
