About Michael Langworthy

Dr. Langworthy earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is fellowship trained in adult pelvis and major joint reconstruction at the University of California, San Diego.

A leading advisor on arthritic joint disease to the US military, Dr. Langworthy holds a clinical faculty appointment at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He is a current Director of Advanced Trauma Life Support for the US Navy and has published numerous papers and spoken around the world on cartilage and osteoarthritis.

Dr. Langworthy was honored as one of the Top 100 Health Care Professionals of the world in 2013 and is board certified in orthopedic surgery.

  • Excellent timely service

  • I had to wait along time for this appointment. I was on cancelation list since Aug. My app. Was for 11/4 and got it only moved up to 10/28. Been in pain and out of commission since Aug 13 th. Need knee replacement. Finally scheduled for Dec. 13th

  • The providers are very good in this office.The problem which has happens a lot in this office is the front desk. Nit that the staff that works the front desk is nit good or trained well. They only usually have one person working, doing check in, check out, making appointments, calling registration do to errors on insurances, answering phones. The lines back up to 10 to 12 people in line. Some patients on crutches, in cast on legs, foot. Patients should not have to wait in line like that for a 1/2 hour. The office does have issues with this.

  • I've always had a good arrangement with Dr. Langworthy is for his inform, knowledgeable, answers all my questions completely, and I'm thankful that he's with South Coast, and I have had the opportunity to have him as my orthopedic surgeon. Thank you. South Coast for having Dr. Langworthy.

  • I actually think Dr. Langworthy is great. I first I thought he was a little abrupt, but then found out he used to be A fighter pilot and they made all the sense in the world! Seriously you would have to be pretty cool calm and collected and matter fact to the point to do both of those jobs, and I have the upmost confidence in his ability!Whenever I have to have that knee replacement, I feel very confident that he will do an excellent job!

  • I booked this appt. 2 months in advance. The week before my appt. their staff contacted me to change my appt. to another time. The time that was offered to me was very inconvenient for me being severely disabled. This is the 2nd time this happen to me with this provider. I do realize situations change, however I just wish they would honor the original appts. they make.

  • I really like Dr.Langworthy he did my right knee 3 years ago, I'm looking forward to him doing the left knee. As far as the intake technician what is concerned, she was less than satisfactory.She was grumpy and disrespectful.

  • Staff was very polite. Dr seemed to be rushed. Was somewhat put off by him trying to talk to me about the Bariatric program. I was there for my shoulder not my weight. Then when I said no he said well if you change your mind we a program. Like trying to recruit me.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
