About Michael Langworthy

Dr. Langworthy earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is fellowship trained in adult pelvis and major joint reconstruction at the University of California, San Diego.

A leading advisor on arthritic joint disease to the US military, Dr. Langworthy holds a clinical faculty appointment at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He is a current Director of Advanced Trauma Life Support for the US Navy and has published numerous papers and spoken around the world on cartilage and osteoarthritis.

Dr. Langworthy was honored as one of the Top 100 Health Care Professionals of the world in 2013 and is board certified in orthopedic surgery.

From the time I entered the office, I felt very comfortable. The girls explained things to me. When they took me into the back, they explained the x-rays that they were doing and why they were doing. And then when I got into the office to see Dr. Langworthy, he was very explanatory as to what I needed to have done. He showed me my x-rays and explained my x-rays to me and gave me my options of what was available for me to do so that I could have my knees replaced.

Yes, I went on an emergency visit and he told, Dr. Langworthy, told me what to do. My mother was with me and everything was all well and good. I'm in severe pain, but he's taking care of business as he always does and I appreciate that. The staff is just wonderful and the whole visit went nice and smooth.

Dr Langworthy was very professional and kind. He listened about how I had been dealing with my situation for the last 9 months with another physician in the same practice. Dr. Langworthy after reading my MRI was surprised that I had not had surgery. I am now scheduled for a total knee replacement and am working with the nurse coordinators to make that happen. I am relieved and confidant that I am in great and professional hands with Dr. Langworthy. I am delighted to be working with someone who was so kind and professional.

Provider is very knowledgeable and friendly. Appointments started on time. Staff were helpful and friendly. In addition, not many providers in the area are familiar with a condition called multiple hereditary exostoses. Often providers in area automatically assume that is what the issue is but this provider is knowledgeable about the condition and is able to differentiate what is caused by it and what is not…therefore treating the actual issue.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
