About Maureen Chung MD, PhD
Dr. Maureen Chung, a renowned surgical oncologist specializing in diseases of the breast, is the Medical Director of the Breast Care Program.
She earned her undergraduate degree with distinction, as well as her medical and master’s degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She completed a general surgery residency at McGill University, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. She earned a doctorate in Pathobiology from Brown University, Providence and completed a surgical oncology fellowship at Brown Medical School.
Dr. Chung is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of several societies including the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Chung’s clinical interests include the impact of screening mammography and contemporary surgical treatment of breast cancer. She believes that patient education, disease prevention and evidence based treatments are equally important and that care should be personalized for each patient.

Navigating breast cancer is daunting and I have absolute faith that your health care specialists will guide me down this path with utmost expertise.
Dr. Chung is a gifted surgeon and caring provider.What I did not appreciate is the front desk staff who barged into the office while I was trying to check-out and demanded immediate attention to solve a problem for someone on the phone.
Efficient and knowledgable
To me, Dr Chung is fantastic. She is brilliant and understands her specialty very well and it shows. She takes the time to educate you so you understand and educates you on how to take care of yourself to stay healthy. I appreciate that. She also does great remembering who you are.
