About Joan Wildenhain

Joan Wildenhain, NPC earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. She furthered her education and expertise by earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Prior to joining Southcoast, Joan had experience both as a Registered Nurse and as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She has national certification in Fracture Liaison Services, and her clinical interests include fragility fractures and osteoporosis.

Joan’s personal philosophy of care involves listening attentively to each patient’s needs and treating them the way she would treat herself or a family member. Her work is inspired by the ability to positively impact a patients’ quality of life. Joan chose orthopedics for its challenging and rewarding nature, and will serve the Southcoast community with the mission of making a difference in people’s lives.

In her free time, Joan enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time with her family.

The only thing that I find rather unproductive is that if you have another issue that cropped up prior to your visit they cannot evaluate and xay the new problem while u are there...for instance....I went in for a crushed toe injury and it affected my gait and my knee was swollen as well.....also...I fell prior to my scheduled visit on my shoulder and that issue could not be xrayed either....we could have addressed all three issues by xray during the visit but that wasn't allowed apparently.......although the matters were verbally discussed.....

I was seen in a timely fashion. I had an ankle fracture and went to urgent care the day before. The first thing Joan said to me was urgent care gave me the wrong boot for an ankle fracture. The boot they put on me was for a foot fracture. They promptly gave me the boot I should be wearing for an ankle fracture.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
