About Himanshu Verma

Dr. Himanshu Verma graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University with a B.A. degree in Economics. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. Dr. Verma completed internal medicine internship and residency at Cornell-New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York and then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass.  He then pursued additional training with an advanced endoscopy fellowship at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.  

Dr. Verma is trained in therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), luminal stenting and endoscopic mucosal resection.  His areas of clinical interest include pancreaticobiliary disease as well as general gastroenterology.

He is board certified in internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Verma enjoys playing tennis, snowboarding, surfing, running and yoga.

  • Translated from Portuguese - All very good. I was well taken care of. I have nothing to complain about. I'm always well taken care of. I've always been well taken care of during my consultations. I've never had any problems, never had any issues. On a scale from one to ten, it's a ten. Okay. Thank you.

  • Need to communicate better, both before and after procedures, Call in 2 days if there is an issue, is not that reassuring. Had to look up online to find out I should wait 4 hours to eat, etc.

  • Appointment was on time. Provider answered all my questions.

  • Dr.Verma is very attentive and understanding of my medical history as well as concerns. He is open to trying new options but understands my want to try natural alternatives before prescriptions.

  • Over all the the contact was positive. However, the connection was very poor. I found it very difficult to understand everything that was said because again, it was not a Clear Connection. It was scratchy and it really to tracked it from the overall benefit of the contact certainly and it can't compare with them and in an office visit Dr. Verma was very helpful. But again, the other technology was very poor. So it really degraded from the experience.

He is sending me to an allergist for my situation that I have where I have a very bad food allergy and he's also following up for my esophagus with my medication and doubling it so that I can be more comfortable with my eating also he is recommending an endoscopy for me. So I feel that he is concerned with my health and taking the proper steps to give great patient care. Thank you. Have a nice day.

  • The appointment was exactly on time. Given the situation of a telehealth visit, I thought it went well. Considering the physician had never met me, he was attentive and seemed knowledgeable regarding my particular issues. I felt as comfortable as realistically possible considering the type of visit this was. The physician was quite gentle and kind. All of the individuals with whom I spoke prior to the telehealth appointment were all very kind and patient. All in all it went well and I consider this type of visit, although not ideal, a good alternative.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
