About Himanshu Verma

Dr. Himanshu Verma graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University with a B.A. degree in Economics. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. Dr. Verma completed internal medicine internship and residency at Cornell-New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York and then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass.  He then pursued additional training with an advanced endoscopy fellowship at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.  

Dr. Verma is trained in therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), luminal stenting and endoscopic mucosal resection.  His areas of clinical interest include pancreaticobiliary disease as well as general gastroenterology.

He is board certified in internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Verma enjoys playing tennis, snowboarding, surfing, running and yoga.

I however, wasn't sure how I was going to be receiving the Tele Health appointment, maybe in the future you could let the patient know ahead of time whether they will be receiving the phone call or be a link sent to them. Many offices do it different ways. That would have been helpful to know ahead of time. Thank you.

  • Dr. Verma was very helpful. I enjoyed my tel a health with him. I think that he is serving me well, for my condition that I have and I would highly recommend his help for anyone seeking his assistant. I felt that he got to know me personally, and emotionally with things that I needed to talk about, so that he had very good bed side manner, and he was able to drop my medicine to 1 a day which made me happy, for my bone health. I just think he's a really great doctor. He's encouraging me to lose weight, and provided me with materials and books, to read and he's just all around number one.

Not only did he listen intently to my health history, probing for additional information, but then was able to provide an alternate, less invasive procedure to validate a diagnosis. I hope he remains with Southcoast until his retirement!!

  • The conversation with Dr. Verma was very good and he explained everything and question me about my concerns. However, I really think that the Telehealth would have been better if we were able to use the computer and see each other face to face and discuss what needed to be discussed.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
