About Christopher Skeehan MD
Dr. Christopher Skeehan graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Genetics from the University of Rochester. He then earned his Doctorate of Medicine from New York Medical College. Furthering his medical expertise, Dr. Skeehan completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth prior to his Naval service as a staff Orthopedic Surgeon. Most recently, Dr. Skeehan completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at New York University Langone Orthopedic Hospital and Insall Scott Kelly Institute. His clinical interests are in both primary and revision hip and knee reconstruction and hip and knee sports medicine.
Dr. Skeehan was inspired to become a physician by his parents, both of whom are physicians. He chose orthopedic surgery after his personal experience with orthopedic surgeons who provided care when he injured himself as a hammer thrower in college. Dr. Skeehan’s personal philosophy of care is centered around cherishing his patients, tracking their outcomes, and always striving to be better for them. He collaborates with his patients, listening to what their goals of care are, while offering different treatment options that will help them achieve their goals with as little intervention as possible.
When not at work, Dr. Skeehan enjoys hiking, snowboarding, surfing, rock climbing, and spending time with his family. Dr. Skeehan is a former member of the United States Navy.

Everyone has been doing a great job with their work today from reception to xray to Doctor in such a timely manner.I was very pleased with all their efforts.Dr. Skeehan was very helpful in explaining the results my tests and what they mean. I received an injection and it has helped me with the pain I will make a follow up appointment if it continues .

This was my first visit and everyone was very nice. They did an xray first and then I sat outside the X-ray room and the nurse took me to a room. She went through all my information and meds with me.The doctor came in within a reasonable time which I appreciated.
Everything was fine. Waiting for outcome of treatment plan, which seems to be in line with what Dr. Skeehan diagnosed and is going well so far! (Why I only gave him 9 out of 10 rating)
Have had two knee replacements. My experience is that this provider and staff have a plan for the entire process (before surgery, at surgery, and post surgery) that provides the greatest opportunity for success. In addition everyone is helpful, informative, and patient friendly!
Get appointments sooner! Had to wait a month for a painful knee.

Check-in / Check-out staff not very friendly.
The place was very busy, and wait time to get in was at least a half-hour beyond the original appointment date. But the doctor didn't seem rushed and listened to my comments, once I was ushered into his office exam room.
Dr Skeehan knows my medical history and specific needs down to my A1C and doesn't test me like a number

Visit was informative.
In my summary of my visit, it said that he showed me the model of the hip and how it worked. He did not. He also said that he explained all of the problems that could happen going through my abdomen. He did not. I read it in the booklet he gave me, but he did not tell me any of that. Thank you.

It was difficult to get an appointment
It only took 5 minutes with the doctor to get what I needed, but I had to wait 45 minutes from the time of my scheduled appointment.Other than that everything and everyone was great!

After sitting for over an hour past my appt. I was seen. I have been a patient of Dr Skeenan for a few years now. He came in & greeted me as a new patient. He didn't listen to what I told him. I had to correct him on what he dictated into my chart pertaining my knee. When I asked about the fluid he pulled out of knee it felt like he blew me off. He didn't look @ my chart while I was there. I feel like none of my needs pertaining to my knees & continued treatment were met.

Waited in the exam room for 30 minutes for the doctor. The last 8-10 minutes I listened to him tell non-medical stories to his staff. I then saw the doctor for a whole 5 minutes.This is an example of why I prefer Tufts Medical Center. The quality of service and care far exceeds any Southcoast experience.

I am so thankful for Dr. Skeehan and his entire staff on the fantastic job that they did replacing my right hip. I was back on my feet quickly. It was very little downtime. I could not have asked for a better doctor. He knows what he's doing and he did it very, very well. This whole staff was always compassionate and caring towards me. And everything that they did, I am so very thankful for. The next time I have a problem, I'm definitely going back to the same doctor if I ever need another hip or a knee replaced. He is an outstanding surgeon.

Overall experience was good. I am shocked that an orthopedic doctor is not on the ground level of a building. Even getting into the building could be difficult if you were by yourself. My brother is going for cardiac rehab, same thing. Not on the ground floor and the building is not friendly to those that might not be 100 percent
