About Christian Dee

Dr. Dee graduated with honors from the University of Wales with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Leicester University Medical School in the U.K., and then completed an internship in general surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook followed by a residency in Orthopedic Surgery.

After completing fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Dee moved back home to New England. He spent 12 years in private practice in Connecticut and has enjoyed treating patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions including knee, hip and upper extremity problems such as work-related injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome.  

Dr. Dee performs the most current arthroscopic and total joint procedures of the knee, hip and shoulder and is trained in the latest robotic partial knee replacement technology. Dr. Dee is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and he is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery.

  • My provider was unable to answer most of my questions in regards to my recovery. Most of his answers were. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know which left me as the patient feeling, very frustrated. However, if he was able to recommend that, I go for a second opinion to a colleague, which I did take up on that offer. Just looking for some more answers. Nothing definite concrete, but something more than, I don't know.

The referral process was one of the worst I've seen. I had an issue with apparently my doctor getting the referral over, the they did not have the correct fax number, when they did get the correct fax number they sent it over and then I had to wait further because not all the information was there. My issue with that is who cares? The referral was sent over. Treat me, don't keep me waiting and in pain and wait for *

  • I love Dr. Dee's office. Dr. Dee is the best physician. He listens to you. He explains things that in a way that you understand and he listens with empathy and care. But because of that, I know, he must be very popular and every time I need to see him, he books, 2... 2 months out in advance, sometimes longer and I just wish that, you know, if you have an issue with your leg and you can't walk on it, you don't want to wait 2 months to see your provider. So maybe South Coast needs some more orthopedic doctors so that they could spread out their patients. But other than that, I really, really love South Coast and I love Dr. Dee.

  • Appointment times are kept and the provider is prompt. Staff is friendly, courteous, and efficient. Office is clean, well kept, and accessible. Physician has treated me successfully for several years and two surgeries and is a specialist I trust.

  • I was in and out the Dr really did not seem to care or listen to me about my knee problem

  • My appointment was changed from 8:45 am to 2pm and with a different dr than I saw the week before fire my injury. The dr I saw the first wee (sinco) was excellent. The follow up with the other dr was not good. He had no plan for my injury, made no recommendations and said we will see you back in 2 weeks. I assumed I would get an MRI or something. Disappointed with the lack of knowledge of why I was there, and lack of answers.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
