Southcoast Health Wound Care Center recognized with national award for Clinical Excellence

FALL RIVER, Mass. – Southcoast Health Wound Care Center, a part of Southcoast Health, was recently presented with the Center of Distinction Award by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

The Wound Care Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction score higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal, and other quality outcomes. There were 506 centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, but only 172 achieved the honor.

The Southcoast Health Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics Network, which consists of more than 635 Centers nationwide, and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating more than two million chronic wounds.

“This award is a significant accomplishment for the Wound Care Center because healing chronic wounds is very challenging and the number of patients that require this specialty service is significant,” said Cheryl Thompson, RN, program director. “The entire Wound Care Center staff is proud of this recognition as we strive to stay to stay on the cutting edge of advanced wound care management. Our primary focus is to provide an excellent patient experience while having a positive impact on improving the quality of life for our patients.”
