Boston Children’s Hospital Physicians at St. Luke’s ED

Our team of Boston Children’s physicians offers round-the-clock, on-site pediatric inpatient care and is working with local emergency medicine providers in a customized pediatric area in the emergency department at St. Luke’s Hospital.

As always, excellent emergency care for children is also available at Tobey Hospital in Wareham and Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. The emergency physicians at these locations can consult remotely with the Boston Children’s physicians at any time. If a child arriving at Tobey or Charlton Memorial needs to be hospitalized, he or she may be transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Boston Children’s physicians at St. Luke’s Hospital are not only able to provide on-site care — they can consult with other Boston Children’s physicians and specialists. For example, a child’s radiology images and other medical documents can be sent electronically to Boston in the event that they need to be transferred to Boston. We can also bring Boston Children’s ICU team ‘into the room’ to help manage the care of a critically ill child in the Emergency Department at St. Luke’s with the help of a video robot.
