Signs and Symptoms of an Ear Infection
When your child has an ear infection, it typically starts with a cold. Common symptoms include a cough, congestion, and a runny nose. If your child gets a fever shortly after the cold symptoms appear and it lasts for more than 48 hours, then it’s time to get their ears checked out. Excessive crying, as well as fussiness, poor feeding, and trouble sleeping could mean that your child is experiencing pain. The pain associated with ear infections usually gets worse at night and when lying down.
