Southcoast Hospitals Group, in fulfilling its mission to serve others, established the Southcoast Health Van program. The primary goal of the Southcoast Health Van is to provide free education and screenings to the community.
Southcoast works with other community organizations at sites throughout Greater Fall River, New Bedford and Wareham and surrounding communities.
The Southcoast Health Van coordinates with community agencies, such as school departments, councils on aging, health centers and the housing authority to reach the people who need these services the most — seniors, teens and families who do not have access to medical care.
Reaching Out to You
Southcoast Hospitals is reaching out to people with identified health risks who may not have access to health care by working with community
organizations at sites throughout the region.
The services provided by the Southcoast Health Van help improve the health of young people, the elderly and the medically under-served.
The van's staff identifies people with medical problems and refers them to physicians, community agencies or medical facilities before their medical problem becomes more serious. The van is staffed by Registered Nurses and certified technicians.
The van serves seniors, teens and families who do not have access to medical care at different sites throughout Greater Fall River, New Bedford and Wareham and surrounding communities.
Your Blood Saves Lives

So we're driving the Southcoast Blood Bank to you — aboard the Southcoast Health Van — assisting with blood drives at schools, businesses and other organizations from the Cape to Rhode Island.
The van can comfortably accommodate up to five donors at once, making it easier for people to give blood locally.
And giving locally makes a difference, because every pint of blood that's donated to the Southcoast Blood Bank stays right here in our communities, providing life-saving treatment to patients at Southcoast Hospitals.
The Emergency Departments at Charlton, St. Luke's and Tobey hospitals are among the very busiest in Massachusetts. We also need blood for cancer patients, C-sections, premature infants and patients having surgery.
Participating in a blood drive for the Southcoast Blood Bank is a great way to give something back to the community. To help, please call 508-961-5320.
