Trust the experts at the new Southcoast Health Heartburn and Reflux Center for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
The new Southcoast Health Heartburn and Reflux Center in Wareham is the only expert program of its kind south of the Greater Boston area.
Our Heartburn and Reflux Center surgery specialists are pleased to announce that the center is the only facility in the area offering the first comprehensive program combining all the latest diagnostic technologies including LINX Reflux Management System.
Minimally invasive procedures for reflux disease
LINX is a solution to reduce dependence on medication and improve quality of life for GERD sufferers. LINX is a small, quarter-sized flexible ring of magnets that are placed around the esophagus just above the stomach to prevent reflux.
Up to 1 in 5 U.S. adults suffer from GERD. Millions of patients rely on medications to treat the disease. Medication options are designed to control or suppress acid production in the stomach. They do not address the mechanical cause of GERD, a weak sphincter muscle. Approximately 40-percent of sufferers continue to suffer symptoms while taking medications for GERD.
GERD can lead to serious complications. If left untreated it can cause pre-cancerous changes called Barrett’s esophagus.
We are currently accepting patients in the SHARC program for potential GERD treatment with LINX. Consult your provider or contact our Surgical Center at 508-973-1850. Learn more and take the quiz to see if you or a loved one might be a good candidate for the procedure.
