Southcoast Health Welcomes Local Businesses

Southcoast welcomes the opening of two new café options at St. Luke's Hospital and Charlton Memorial Hospital

Proud to Welcome New Local Café Options

At Southcoast Health, we are constantly looking for opportunities to strengthen our connection with our community by investing in local businesses. To that end, we are proud to announce we are now working with two new Local Café — On The Run Cinnabun and Jim’s Organic Coffee of Wareham—that will provide our patients, employees, and visitors with coffee and More.

On The Run Cinnabun

New Bedford’s On The Run Cinnabun is now open in the lobby kiosk at St. Luke’s Hospital

Mary Kelly, the founder of On The Run Cinnabun, always loved to bake. At the beginning of the pandemic, she turned this hobby into a source of connection, baking cinnamon rolls as a way to show her friends and family that she was thinking of them even when they couldn’t gather in person. Her baking became well known and soon flourished into a successful business on Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford.

“Many Southcoast employees were customers of mine, so I thought about it and I knew St. Luke’s Hospital had a kiosk in the lobby,” she says. “I contacted the hospital and Food Services was interested in having me run the kiosk.” This fall, Mary moved her bakery to the new location in St. Luke’s Hospital. Here, she is excited to see familiar faces and provide fresh baked goods for staff and visitors.

“Most of the pastries are family recipes, and we bring in new ones all the time just to give it a try,” says Mary. “Lunch is also new for us here at St. Luke’s. At our original location, we were known for pastries and bakery goods, but now I focus on having a lunch items available for staff.” To start, Mary has eight lunch options including chicken pot pie, 12 vegetable soup, and chicken salad sandwiches.

The lobby kiosk is also open on select Friday and Saturday nights to serve cookies. Mary’s daughter Kat, came up with this idea at the Rockdale Avenue location and Mary is looking forward to continuing the tradition at St. Luke’s Hospital.
