About W. Scott Keigwin

Dr. Keigwin is a family practice physician with Southcoast Physicians Group in Tiverton, R.I.

He received his doctor of osteopathic medicine from Kansas City University in Kansas City, Mo.

He completed his residency at Dartmouth Family Practice Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., and Augusta, Maine, and his internship at Lutheran Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Keigwin is an associate professor at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University. He was the medical director of hospice at Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties.

He is also a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care and certified in medical acupuncture.

He is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.

  • Dr. Keigwin and staff are the best I have seen. The staff is polite,cheerful,and seem to like helping w/ questions. The Dr. is top notch. He listens and unlike many others ,does not rush you out the door. he talks with you not at you.He is the first Dr. I have had in years who touches you during exam. He listens and any test is scheduled that day. He listens to your heart,breathing and doesn't spend the visit on the computer.My old Dr would sit and hide behind computer.Dr. Keigwin during my first visit ordered tests.I had a mass growing in me for 3 years,(old Dr said I was constipated). Dr Keigwin felt abdomen,listened and I had surgery scheduled to remove the mass within 6 weeks.He is kind and smart.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
