About Tina Charest

Dr. Charest earned her medical degree from Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, where she also served as a clinical research assistant in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a research assistant in the Women’s Health in Emergency Care Program. She completed her residency in family medicine at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in Pawtucket, R.I.

Dr. Charest has engaged in a number of volunteer efforts, including serving since 2007 as an interviewer at Brown University, interviewing students who applied to attend Brown University’s undergraduate program.

She has discussed women’s health on local radio, and also served as a patient advocate for an expectant mother during medical school. Dr. Charest enjoys swimming, fishing, and water skiing as well as cooking and reading.

  • Dr. Charest is a wonderful wonderful doctor. She's very thorough and she explains everything to the T. You need more doctors like her, in the field. She is great. The only problem that we have is with the staff in the office some of them mess up on our times of them. So we have appointments for the dates and the times and hopefully this is going to get cleared up, but other than that Dr. Charest is wonderful. Thank you. Bye.

  • very appreciative of the staff and md. I called to say I got out of work late (night shift nurse in Boston) and was going to be 15 minutes late for my 9am appt. Instead of cancelling me, they were able to take the patient after me first and I waited a few minutes once I got there but had my appt. essentially switched time slots with patient after me. I was so thankful for their flexibility in accommodating me.

  • As usual, Dr. Charest was energetic, pleasant, professional and comprehensive in my care. I didn't feel rushed and felt valued as a patient. The M.A. [Name] was also very pleasant and professional. [Name] is a breath of fresh air - patient focused, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable. A few areas for improvement (and the reasons for the facility 7 rating)-- I do wish the office team wore name tags (and/or in a place where patients could see their names). I only learned of [Name] name because Dr. Charest referred to her by name. The ladies who checked me in and checked me out did not have name tags visible to the patient. In exam room 5, there are cob webs hanging from the ceiling/along the wall across from where the patient sits. Apparently, the lady who checked me in was supposed to ask a COVID travel screening question. She did not. She only asked me if I was feeling well that day. [Name] later mentioned this travel question and that I would have been asked at check-in, but I wasn't. The key reason I rated the facility a 7 is LPN [Name] When I recently had a healthcare question and [Name] and I spoke over the phone, instead of taking a few moments to explain something to me and have a conversation, she rudely and surprisingly hung up on me. She admitted this later in a MyChart message and still chose not to apologize to the patient. To me, [Name] hanging up on me meant "you don't matter" and "we don't care about you." This is not a good feeling as a patient and it even made me uncomfortable to go to Dr. Charest's office. If [Name] hadn't hung up on me, I would have rated the facility a 9. Thank you.

  • Dr. Charest and her team are new to me and I am very pleased with their care and to be part of South Coast. Health.

  • The doctor and staff are very good at being attentive and listening to my needs, and seeing me in a timely manner when I call up for an appointment or have any questions. They always call me back when I leave a message the same day. If I have doctors and staff like this for my whole life, I will be blessed. Thank you and thank them for me.

  • So I have no complaints about the Salida. Dr.Charest absolutely wonderful 100% of the time. However, the office staff, leave a lot to be desired. Rude, comments, condescending comments, lack of direction. Actually, somebody open the door while I was getting changed because the person who had left me, after taking my blood pressure ,and some initial information. Didn't flag the door, so they thought no one was in there. That was lovely. The girl who interrupted, apologize profusely, but the girl who made the mistake could have cared less. Reception was not very friendly, and check out was absolutely horrible. There's no instruction. There's no place to wait. It's very constricted, and especially in times of covid. There needs to be better like exit strategies. Everyone is on top of everyone. When I went to the checkout window. The girl wasn't on the phone, or with a person.

  • Doctor Charest is amazing, she is an A++ Doctor, very knowledgeable, informative, always gives you her full attention. She was made to be a Doctor, at this time it can not be easy dealing with COVID - The nurse who first saw me was excellent, as well.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
