About Stephen Finney MD
Dr. Stephen Finney is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences then subsequently obtained a Master in Science at Mississippi College. Dr. Finney earned his Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency in Family Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he served as Wellness Director. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, American Board of Obesity Medicine, and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.
Dr. Finney implements more of a holistic approach when treating all his patients. He promotes lifestyle modification that focuses on foods, exercise, and mindfulness through meditation technique. In addition, he practices motivational interviewing and listens to his patients in an efficient manner. Dr. Finney believes that health and happiness is achieved through realistic goal setting. His clinical interests include family medicine, obesity medicine, and LGBTQ health.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians, Obesity Medical Association, and World Professional Association for Transgender Health.

This provider is an active listener. He then offers the proper medical advice addressing all my concerns and answering all my questions.
After 40 years with the same primary physician, I recently needed to select a new Primary Care provider. I am now a new patient of Dr. Finney, and his office was able to accommodate me with an earlier appointment. My experience with the entire team, including the office staff, nursing staff, and Dr. Finney, has been excellent. Everyone has demonstrated professionalism, kindness, and courtesy. It has been a very positive transition so far.
He listens well informed about my health situation and inquired about my family . Dr Finney is a wonderful doctor. Only thing he could do better is make house calls .

From the front desk, receptionist are always awesome over the phone and in person very tentative and very knowledgeable. Medical assistants are awesome. The nurses are also amazing if I have any issues and use my chat to communicate with them, they get back to me within minutes. Can't ask for better. I have no complaints. The providers in this office, especially Dr. Finney is the best. The whole office goes above and beyond.

Dr. Finney spent plenty of time with me addressing my concerns and helped me find ways to make changes to improve my health. I always felt that I had his full attention and respect. He showed me patience, friendliness, and made me feel comfortable. He answered every question I had and directed me to resources where I could seek additional information as needed.
You do everything well, that's an understatement. I can't think of what you can do to improve. If I do, I'll let you know.

They had a student trainee with me for my annual appointment. I would have liked my Dr to listen to my breathing as I have asthma. He did not come within 2 ft of me and I wasn't sick. I do not feel it was a very thorough appointment.

I called the office for a personal medical issue I was having. The nurse I spoke with was gentle and kind. I got an appointment the same day to see my PCP. Dr. Finney was kind , he listened and really helped me and eased my mind. Dr. Finney also set up referrals and follow up visits for me. I had labs taken in the office and results within hours, with a personal message from Dr. Finney. I couldn't ask for a better visit or better staff. Thank you to the team I appreciate each one of you.
Dr Finny is absolutely the best. I was apprehensive at first, he looked very young… Like he could be my son. That means I'm getting older. I'm a 65-year-old woman and I do not normally have male doctors. I don't find them compassionate enough. Nothing could be further from the truth with Dr Finny. He is absolutely compassionate and listens. A lot of doctors do not listen they let their egos get in the way, when we the patients know our bodies and are our best advocates. Wonderful experience with this Dr. I have three people that are on his waiting list and have already gotten him 14 new patient patients. I would never ever recommend him if he sucked. Thank you, Dr Finny for always listening, and not being a jerk like some doctors, we know.
I was seen right away and treated with respect. The medical assistant and Doctor explained everything they were doing in a professional way, and a way I could understand. The facility was clean and I didn't have to wait to get labs.
