About Sonia Seng

Dr. Seng is the director of the Clinical Trials Program for cancer treatment through which local cancer patients will have access to new and developing treatments. Dr. Seng has extensive experience in clinical research focused on finding new chemotherapy treatments for cancer.

Sonia Seng, MD, earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y., and completed a residency in internal medicine-pediatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Seng also completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Mount Sinai.

A native of Nicaragua, Dr. Seng performed research on the availability of palliative care for patients with advanced cancers in Managua. She is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Seng is board certified in internal medicine and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association of Clinical Research.

  • Dr. Sonia Seng is a top provider. She is very concerned about you as a patient and takes time to address concerns. The staff in the office and Laboratory are pleasant. The Check-Out desk needs additional staff. They're always very pleasant and accommodating but it is obvious they need help. Many patients are checking out together at the same time, and have just received treatment or spent time at other type of appointments and are feeling weak, and just need to leave. The staff are doing the best they can and are great, but a few extra employees would help relieve the pressure and move the flow of patients checking out.

  • Every staff member I encountered from the receptionist, to lab tech & everyone else in between was amazing. To watch how fantastic & personable they treated each patient was fantastic. They knew a lot of patients by name and were so respectful, attentive and really truly care about the health of there patients. Absolutely amazing team

  • Appointment was 2 hours behind schedule. In the future if appointments are running this far behind it would be nice if they notified upcoming appointments of the delay so can make adjustments to the personal schedules. This was a huge inconvenience and effected my work schedule. On another note the physician was Amazing. She was polite, informative… all around great attitude.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
