About Sofia Cabral-Murras

Sofia earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. She then went on to earn her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York. 

She is fluent in both English and Portuguese. Born in São Miguel, Açores she immigrated at the young age of 4 with her family to the United States. 

She has always been interested in medicine and knew that one day she would work in the medical field. 

Her philosophy of care is that it should be patient-centered and should treat the whole person. This means that in order to best treat a patient, one must consider their physiological, psychological, cultural, and spiritual needs to develop the best plan specific to the patient. She believes that health and wellness is a lifelong journey. 

When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, often going hiking with them. She also enjoys reading, any and all kinds- from medical journals to fiction, visiting the library regularly and attending her book club. She and her husband are regulars at their car club as well and attend various car meets and auto shows.
