About Shobhita Sundar

Dr. Sundar received her medical degree from the University of Madras Stanley Medical School in Madras, India. She then completed a residency at Railway Hospital in Madras. Dr. Sundar completed her postdoctoral training in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., where she was chief resident.

Dr. Sundar is board certified in internal medicine. She is also certified in bone densitometry.

  • Always courteous desk and medical assistant staff. Takes a long time to be seen bit the tradeoff is Dr. Sunda r knows her patients and their history so can improve patient care by working collaboratively for improved health of get patients. Thus I'm over 50 and got the chickenpox vaccine.

  • Appt was on time. Staff was courteous and friendly. Doctor took time to listen to my questions and make recommendations/give referrals.

  • Dr Sundar recognized my symptoms as a possible appendicitis and sent me for a stat ct of my abdomen and low and behold out can my appendix the next day, and to be truthful I tried to get her to postpone the rest but she kindly refused my request and good thing she did!

  • I continue to be surprised and thankful that I selected Dr. Sundar as my Primary Care Physician. The office staff are all friendly and professional and they have a system that actually works. The waiting time has always been extremely reasonable and the medical assistant was courteous and helpful. It is obvious to me that Dr. Sundar takes the time to know her patients and does not rush the exam giving me plenty of opportunity to address my concerns. I have adopted her diet & lifestyle suggestions and it has made a positive difference in my health and well being. I couldn't be happier!

  • The wait time is too long. I try to get first appointment, but rarely do. Anything after the first appointment results in a way too long wait. I've experienced waits as long as an hour to find out there were still four people ahead of me. I walked out on that one. Inevitably, my BP tends to be a little high for these instances.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Helpfulness of Clerks & Receptionists, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
