About Ronald Rapoport

Dr. Rapoport is Chief of Rheumatology. He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology.

Dr. Rapoport earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and will see patients at 1030 President Avenue in Fall River.

His main areas of focus include the variousarthritidies such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthristis, gout, lupus, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis as well as osteoporosis. He was an intern and junior resident at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in rheumatology at The Medical College of Wisconsin.

Dr. Rapoport is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He is a member the National Osteoporosis Foundation, and the Fall River Medical Society. His past publications have focused on the management of acute pain, and the treatment of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
He is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and of ABIM (subspecialty of rheumatology), and a certified clinical densitometrist.

  • I've had arthritis since I was 12 and Dr. Rappaport has been the greatest dermatologist I've ever had and he is one of my most trusted doctors along with Dr. Ainsworth and I respect him so much and appreciate all of his honesty and all of the care that he gives me every time I'm in his office.

  • I was very nervous about doing this video chat. The Dr. talked me through how to set it up on my mobile phone. Very easy once I did it. I also like the Epic program for My Chart. It is so user friendly. My husband did a video chat with another md not at Southcoast and it involved an app. ect. Great program, and good system.

  • I just thought it was a wonderful experience. He was very thoughtful. He talked so I could understand him completely and if I had any questions, he told me I could interrupt and ask him about it. He was just delightful. I knew that he studied my case and he was thinking as we were talking. I think for today's visit, I think I'm going in the right direction. I'm very pleased. Bye-bye.

  • Dr Rapoportu00A0is great! He freely admitted he did not know everything about my past history but wanted me to tell my current state as it relates to my PMH. He dictates his note while he's with you so you can correct, edit or just go along with what he's saying so there are no surprises. He's thorough, we reviewed 2 meds in particular and he has a great bedside manner. Highly recommend!

  • I would have been better to see the Doctor when I was in pain rather, rather than tell him about it after the fact. I had to wait three months for this appointment and my flare up was over. Not the Doctors fault. Southcoast scheduling has been awful.

  • Dr. R was extremely helpful and informative. Unlike a provider I've seen in the past for RA, Dr. R did a complete examination and asked me questions to fully understand my condition. He was thorough, polite and I feel completely at ease in his care as I am a new patient to South Coast Health but have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 5 years or so.

  • This was my first interaction with this provider, so he would not have been keenly knowledgeable about my rather long medical history. Therefore, I found some of these questions to be irrelevant.I liked his methods of allowing me "in" to his observations and opinions by speaking into a recording/transcribing device as my exam unfolded. This also afforded me the opportunity to ask questions and add information to his body of knowledge as my appointment progressed.Further, when reading his summary of our time together, I found it interesting and unique that he gleaned information about my condition by close and subtle observation of my casual movements--like sitting and rising from a chair and walking down a corridor. He didn't waste a minute!

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
