About Paula Ugalde Figueroa

Paula Ugalde, MD earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Federal University Bahia Medical School in Brazil. She then completed her Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at the Centre de Pneumolgie et de Chirugie Thoracique Hospital Laval in Quebec, Canada. In addition, Dr. Ugalde is a member of the Canadian Association of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Women in Thoracic Surgery, European Society of Thoracic Surgery, and the International Association of the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). Dr. Ugalde is an Associate Surgeon in the Division of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Ugalde was inspired to become a thoracic surgeon as it provided her with the ability to bring comfort to another human being while putting the quality of her patient’s life first. She believes it is important to work in a healthy environment where all healthcare personnel prioritize the well-being of patients through respect, good communication and care for one another.

When not at work, Dr. Ugalde enjoys spending time biking, jogging, going to the gym, and traveling.
