About Paul Del Guercio

Board certified as a Family Practice physician, Dr. Del Guercio earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and will see patients at Southcoast Family Medicine on Valley Road in Middletown, R.I.

Dr. Del Guercio completed his residency in Family Practice at the Memorial Hospital of RI. He worked in private and group practices in Westport, Mass., and Newport, R.I., prior to 2001, when he became owner of Valley Primary Care, a primary care and walk-in center in Middletown, at the same location where he will continue to practice for Southcoast Health.

Dr. Del Guercio is assistant clinical professor of Family Medicine at Brown University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice.

In his spare time, Dr. Del Guercio enjoys cycling, tennis and carpentry. He also served as the on-set physician for the Newport filming of Steven Spielberg’s 1997 film Amistad.

  • Every time I go they're always very friendly and polite and my provider is always eager to listen and give good advice

  • The provider and facility did well scheduling me for follow up appointments, making sure that my scripts for my immunizations were taken care of and signed by the doctor in a timely manner and also taking care of getting my blood work done that had been ... had been somewhat delayed. Got it done the same day. When I talked about it, they were able to schedule me in, basically on, you know, on site as a walk in. And got it done. And the person who took my blood, the phlebotomist, did a wonderful job. Probably the best I've ever had. Thank you very much. Bye.

  • Had issue in morning. Dr del guercio office worked to get me in same day after a cancellation. Dr del guercio explained issue in easy to understand terms and came up with an plan to go forward.

  • I saw Dr D on an emergency appointment when I couldn't get to see [Name] [Name] It was the first time I ever met him and I was impressed that he took his time with me and explained what he thought was going on and what was causing me to be in so much pain. He ordered blood work and after the blood work was done gave me a prescription for Prednisone which made such an incredible difference after just 1 day of taking it! I was almost totally pain free and felt the best I have in a month! I am very grateful to Dr D for his expertise and caring personality.

  • Any office will have some kind of wait time so I hope my response does not negatively impact their score. Everyone I came into contact with at the office was pleasant and courteous, they were not rushed yet still effective with their time and mine.

This visit, he presented a 3rd year med student who je let direct the questions (with my approval), but certainly added thoughts where appropriate. I am certain Paul Del Guercio is an excellent mentor.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
