About Michael Simon

Dr. Michael Simon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the George Washington University Columbian College of Arts and Sciences in Washington, DC. He then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University, School of Medicine. He then earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at The George Washington University Hospital and his Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital.

Having always been interested in sciences, he was inspired to become a doctor after he got to see firsthand the connection a physician makes with a patient; the perfect alignment of scientific curiosity and service to others.

His philosophy of care centers on empathy, patience, and clear communication. He wants his patients to know they are more than a diagnosis or culmination of lab values or chest radiographs.

When not at work, Michael is an avid reader of science fiction. He loves gardening, landscaping, and DIY home improvement projects. He’s also known for bringing along a few board games on his weekend cabin escapes with friends.

I was a new patient. I arrived early and the office took me early. His MA was very pleasant. He entered the room with a smile and a handshake. He was very willing to listen to my concerns and advise. My doctor.[Name] [Name] was booked up and my oxygen level was low and the staff got me in within an hour to see Dr. Simon, who was very concerned had me do some tests with another person and then he asked me a lot of questions. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Simon and found him to be very knowledgeable and professional. And he explained that I needed to be placed on supplemental oxygen. I'm very confident that the doctors in this office are genuinely doing a great job of treating my condition. Thank you for asking me about this experience.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Simon. He listened to my concerns and asked pertinent questions. He examined me and recommended blood work as well as an inhaler. He stated that he would get back to me with the results and will share the information with [Name][Name] I received a form for the blood test and went downstairs to the Lab. The Lab was quite busy and it took 30 minutes before the blood was drawn. The Lab staff was very pleasant

Hi, Dr. Simon, this was the first time we saw him in the office. I was admitted to Charlton in December and he saw me in-house. Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
