  • Dr Philips fixed me good when others told me I was gonna have to live in chronic pain for the rest of my life. So glad I got a second opinion and Dr. Philips

  • Yes, I was very impressed with the office and the medical staff and Dr. Philips was very very clear to me about what he wanted me to do and to follow up on the procedure that I'm to follow. I'm very very impressed with everyone. Thank you.

  • They all were pleasant, professional, & knowledgeable

  • Dr. Philips spent a great deal of time thinking through what is the best way to do the surgery for the spinal fusion, and he told me he spent time thinking this through because he didn't want me to come back. And that speaks of a very great doctor. That not only did an excellent job, but was thinking in the future that this is a patient that I don't want to see again, that I don't want to have to come back for a full deck fusion. So thank you very much. Deeply, deeply appreciated.

  • Dr. Phillips was extremely kind, caring and compassionate. He took the time to listen to my concerns and explained things to me and tried to set my mind at ease. The receptionist and the front desk was also very pleasant. I would recommend Dr Phillips and Southcoast Neurosurgery to anyone suffering from spinal issues.

  • I was referred to physiology, but I didn't get too much information about what that entails so I was a bit curious.

  • Very understanding and welling to help with future investigations of my problems

  • very nice dr but wait time was to long

  • The wait was longer than I expected. Once I got to see the doctor, all went well. I wonder if, when the doctor is running late by more than 20 minutes, there might be a text before you leave home. Or at least provide an estimated wait to the patient upon arrival.

  • Dr Philips is a gem. The staff could not have been nicer.

  • So nice to be seen at scheduled time, with back pain waiting is very difficult. Dr Phillips was excellent, explained things in language I could understand not just medical jargon. Great experience, feel confident that I may be able to get help I need .

  • Always a pleasure to be seen by Doctor Philips.

  • Dr. Philips is one of the best doctors we've ever met. He's very thorough and explained everything in easy to understand language. I would recommend him highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you.

  • Doctor was very knowledgeable and direct which I found very helpful concerning my condition. There should be a way for the doctor to have access to previously provided information to Southcoast (MRI's and other information) so that repeat delivery is not necessary; patient records once received should be archived in a secure patient file and available in perpetuity.

  • Dr Philips explained everything in detail & spent a lot of time with us

  • I don’t doubt the doctor’s ability but he did seem rushed. My appointment was at 1 but I wasn’t seen until 1:35.

  • Only negative was a very long wait. However, everyone was very cordial and Dr. Philips was excellent!!

Southcoast Health physician profiles now feature star ratings.  Below, you’ll find frequently asked questions about our process for calculating the ratings.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
