About Marivyl Laxer

Dr. Laxer earned her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. She completed residencies in internal medicine at Makati Medical Center in the Philippines and at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.

She also completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at Makati Medical Center, Philippines.

Dr. Laxer is board-certified in internal medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Bristol South Medical Society. Dr. Laxer is fluent in the Philippine language.

It seems whenever I call I am told someone will return my call and most times I have to make a second call. I'm very happy with my doctor but sometimes I don't think the staff realizes how unhelpful they can be. I do have a chronic care nurse whose name is [Name] [Name] and she is always very helpful to me.

I would have appreciated it someone had let me know MD was running late as I was sitting in hospital gown on exam table waiting. I could have sat in a chair, but I could not get down as step at end of table was pushed in just a little too far for me to get off the table unassisted.

There is a trial for a new model to "give me more time with my provider". I understand the concept and think it may be beneficial for some patients that will have a hard time remembering the education from the provider. I found it hard to talk to my provider about my issues because there was a panel of staff watching me, and the information was hard for me to say anyway. I think there should be an option to decline.

Dr. Laxer and her team are all they all were great. From some of the help at the desk to the nurse who takes you in and weighs you and takes your blood pressure and asks you all the questions. But not only a few questions, but also like a feeling you just feel comfortable, they make you feel very comfortable, Dr. Laxer is the best physician I've ever worked with. I tell her all the time. I couldn't tell you how many years I have needed her guidance, and she's always been there for me. She's calling me sometimes at 7:30 8 o'clock at night. The test comes in, if I call during the day and she's been so busy, she still makes time to call me back. At the end of the day, it's just unheard of especially in this day and age.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
