About Joshua Costa

Joshua Costa earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA. He then furthered his medical expertise, earning is Masters of Nursing Science, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Regis College in Weston, MA. His clinical interests include emergency medicine, cardiology, and ear, nose, and throat.

Joshua’s personal philosophy of care is centered on treating, listening, and understanding his patients’ concerns in the same way that he would want someone that is caring for his family member to do. Joshua approaches each patient case in a holistic manner, treating and addressing every aspect of his patient’s overall health and wellbeing while viewing them as someone from his community who he can make a connection with and help in a time of need.

When not at work Joshua enjoys golfing, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

  • Joshua Costa, NP always listens and goes above and beyond. The support staff is excellent. I have to see Joshua Costa every six months and I am very grateful for him.

  • The audio test tech did a wonderful job.

  • I waited 4 months for the appointment and during my visit the doctor looked for about 1 minute and said he didn't saw anything that concerned him. I would've appreciated if he gave me more insights about the concern that I had during my visit.

  • The provider seemed disinterested in the things I had a complaint about , basically said I must have a migraine and just referred me to a neurologist, also said that I did not need to schedule any future appointments unless I wanted to. It felt like he just wanted to move on to the next patient.

  • I met with the NP Joshua. He was very abrupt and didn't even look in my mouth to check my throat. He basically dismissed me. He said he wouldn't bother with repeat visits since I only had acid reflux. I was given the sense that I should just live with it. I would not see him again on any visits.

  • Coming into the patient's room and meeting a patient for the first time one would expect the provider to introduce him/herself to the patient. that's common etiquette. He did not talk to meat at all during the encounter, except to say "good" after he looked in my ears and he walked out. Wow, I did not feel like I was treated like a human being. I wonder if he would like being treated the way he treated me. My usual ENT doctor treats me like a human being with feelings, this guy couldn't care less!!!

  • My appt was for 7:30, i got there a little early & was out by 7:32. Josh was great, i told him what was going on, he checked my ears, saw exactly what was going on, told me what i needed and sent me on my way. He was amazing, one of the best appts I've ever had!

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
