About Joshua Costa

Joshua Costa earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA. He then furthered his medical expertise, earning is Masters of Nursing Science, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Regis College in Weston, MA. His clinical interests include emergency medicine, cardiology, and ear, nose, and throat.

Joshua’s personal philosophy of care is centered on treating, listening, and understanding his patients’ concerns in the same way that he would want someone that is caring for his family member to do. Joshua approaches each patient case in a holistic manner, treating and addressing every aspect of his patient’s overall health and wellbeing while viewing them as someone from his community who he can make a connection with and help in a time of need.

When not at work Joshua enjoys golfing, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

This nurse practitioner spent 2 minutes with me at most. He looked in my ears and that was it. He said I didn't need to see him at the end of the appointment if the hearing was stable. I don't feel he did anything for me. He was a waste of time. Flew in and flew out. Horrible provider

I was referred by my arthritis physician, Josh didn't read any notes from my dr prior to my visit or while I was in the room, and dismissed me within 5 mins. He said he had no idea why I was there, had he read the notes on my file from the other Dr he would have known. Extremely disappointed in my 5 min visit, completely wasted my time.

I liked how everything was explained in a clear and concise manner. I like that I was taking in right away at the time of the appointment and then helped in a timely manner as well. As far as what I would change, when I came in to make the appointment the person at the desk told me that I needed to call some sort of hotline which it's kind of productive when all you're trying to do is make an appointment and you're already there.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
