About Jonathan Martin

Dr. Martin joined Southcoast Health from the Neurology Center of New England, in Foxboro. He studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, after earning his bachelor’s at Haverford College.

He completed a medical residency at Rhode Island Hospital, where he then was a neurology resident. Following his residencies, he accepted a fellowship in motor physiology at Brown University. He also served as a clinical assistant professor of neurology at Brown.

Dr. Martin has practiced at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was the founding physician and Medical Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Center. He also was on staff at the Morton Hospital and Medical Center.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.

  • I barely had any waiting time for the nurse or the Dr. Dr. Martin spent time with me and answered all my questions and I left there feeling very satisfied with the visit. Not many doctors take the time to listen anymore. I wish Dr. Martin was my primary care Dr.

  • A courteous receptionist greeted me when I came in and a technician guided me to a room where she took my blood pressure and went over my meds. She was friendly and helpful, even finding an error I had in the list of medications I had with me--I had not updated it properly. She was polite about it and helped me discern the error. As for Dr. Martin, since he is the kindest, most caring and brilliant neurologist on the Northeast coast, there is nothing I can add. I have an impossibly complex problem and he, in his divine and mystical way, helped sort it out! Other neurologists gave up, but Dr. Martin does not give up on even the most complicated cases.

  • The front desk and check out staff ignore you like you aren’t there and were rude when they weren’t clear on the question I was asking them. Other than that, my experience with the provider was great.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Helpfulness of Clerks & Receptionists, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
