About John Leimert

John D. Leimert, M.D., F.A.A.P earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Prior to that he had earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Leimert completed his chief residency in Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology and Critical Care at Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Leimert’s clinical interests include general pediatrics, pediatric respiratory diseases, and the delivery of high quality care to underserved populations. He was inspired to become a physician after watching his brother go to medical school, and learning of his experiences within the medical field. In addition, pediatrics interested Dr. Leimert as he worked at a New Hampshire based camp for underprivileged kids throughout high school and college, really enjoying the opportunities to coach and teach them. His personal philosophy of care is rooted in being present to all aspects of the patient’s human condition – not just the clinical presentation, but also the family’s defining social, economic, ethnic, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds.

Outside of work, Dr. Leimert enjoys many outdoor activities with his grandsons including hiking, kayaking, biking, skiing, camping, swimming, and traveling. Additionally, he teaches Tufts University physician assistant students the art of pediatric medicine, being a member of the faculty there for almost 30 years.

  • He was great - first time meeting him. Hope to make him my son's primary moving forward.

  • Dr. Leimert was very attentive. and a pleasure to work with. I was able to get a very quick appointment for my daughter who is ill.

  • Dr Leimert was extremely thorough & so good with my son. His nurse was also wonderful with him in getting his vitals. Such a great experience that I'm considering changing his primary to Wareham pediatrics.

  • Dr. John Leimert is an absolute god sent angel. He was born to be a pediatrician. He is personable, he makes me as a mother feel understood, as well as my 6 year old son feel just as included in his care & in a way he can completely understand! Nurse [Name]u00A0is also amazing!!

  • I think this new Doctor at Southcoast Pediatrics is wonderful. He listened, examined my child , explained what was happening and quickly sent the medication needed. Some new Doctors nowadays are not too compassionate but Dr. Leimertu00A0was. Prior to coming to this office my kids had an elderly Doctor who had many years of experience but passed away that was the reason we had to switch offices. I loved the way Dr. Leimertu00A0came in the room playful with my kids and showed how much he loves his job. I am truly happy on how our 1st visit with Dr. Leimert went.

  • Dr leimert is fantastic. Such a nice addition to Southcoast pediatrics. He listens, is attentive and truly takes his time to speak to both my child and myself.

  • Dr Liemert was very patient, knowing, and caring.

  • Medical staff paying attention to details. Explain necessity of medication.

  • Amazing with my son who has "white coat syndrome" I do not regret switching my son from hawthorn to Southcoast! A lot of patience, amazing with children.

  • Great experience overall! [Name] (I hope I have her name right! shortu00A0hair, I'm not sure if she's a nurse or a PA?) - anyway, she has such a great personality with kids and parents! It was really nice to meet and interact with her. There was another person (not sure of her name) who did the blood draw, and my only feedback would be it would be great if this person could wear gloves (or sanitize/wash hands right before the blood draw). This person was very good at drawing blood, though.

  • Dr Leimert was outstanding. I was so impressed with his treatment of [Name] and his commitment to arranging follow up with the orthopedic office the next day

Southcoast Health physician profiles now feature star ratings.  Below, you’ll find frequently asked questions about our process for calculating the ratings.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
