About John Leimert

John D. Leimert, M.D., F.A.A.P earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Prior to that he had earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Leimert completed his chief residency in Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology and Critical Care at Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Leimert’s clinical interests include general pediatrics, pediatric respiratory diseases, and the delivery of high quality care to underserved populations. He was inspired to become a physician after watching his brother go to medical school, and learning of his experiences within the medical field. In addition, pediatrics interested Dr. Leimert as he worked at a New Hampshire based camp for underprivileged kids throughout high school and college, really enjoying the opportunities to coach and teach them. His personal philosophy of care is rooted in being present to all aspects of the patient’s human condition – not just the clinical presentation, but also the family’s defining social, economic, ethnic, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds.

Outside of work, Dr. Leimert enjoys many outdoor activities with his grandsons including hiking, kayaking, biking, skiing, camping, swimming, and traveling. Additionally, he teaches Tufts University physician assistant students the art of pediatric medicine, being a member of the faculty there for almost 30 years.

At Southcoast Health, we strive to deliver exceptional patient care along with an exceptional patient experience. We appreciate all of your feedback and share your comments to recognize the wonderful care our teams provide to you as well as identify areas for improvement.

  • I think this new Doctor at Southcoast Pediatrics is wonderful. He listened, examined my child , explained what was happening and quickly sent the medication needed. Some new Doctors nowadays are not too compassionate but Dr. Leimertu00A0was. Prior to coming to this office my kids had an elderly Doctor who had many years of experience but passed away that was the reason we had to switch offices. I loved the way Dr. Leimertu00A0came in the room playful with my kids and showed how much he loves his job. I am truly happy on how our 1st visit with Dr. Leimert went.

  • Dr leimert is fantastic. Such a nice addition to Southcoast pediatrics. He listens, is attentive and truly takes his time to speak to both my child and myself.

  • Dr Liemert was very patient, knowing, and caring.

  • Medical staff paying attention to details. Explain necessity of medication.

  • Amazing with my son who has "white coat syndrome" I do not regret switching my son from hawthorn to Southcoast! A lot of patience, amazing with children.

  • Great experience overall! [Name] (I hope I have her name right! shortu00A0hair, I'm not sure if she's a nurse or a PA?) - anyway, she has such a great personality with kids and parents! It was really nice to meet and interact with her. There was another person (not sure of her name) who did the blood draw, and my only feedback would be it would be great if this person could wear gloves (or sanitize/wash hands right before the blood draw). This person was very good at drawing blood, though.

  • Dr Leimert was outstanding. I was so impressed with his treatment of [Name] and his commitment to arranging follow up with the orthopedic office the next day

  • This Drs office provides exceptional care

  • I got my appointment very promptly. Everyone in the office was very friendly and courteous and the doctor was knowledgeable and friendly and just amazing very very pleased with the care I received for my twins.

  • I switched offices to choose Dr [Name] for my children's pediatrician. It is very disheartening that she is almost NEVER available to see my children, not even for my newborns well visits (at this point they have see different providers in the office more than her). Dr. Leimert was able to see my newborn at his most recent well visit, he was incredible! I truly felt like I struck gold by finding him! I will recommend him to anyone looking for a pediatrician and will continue to see him for my children. I honestly cannot express how happy and thankful I was for his care !

  • I would love to see more communication between my pharmacy and this office when issues arise with prescriptions.

  • The doctor was very nice, very patient with the kids, he's a very good doctor. So I'm very happy he's my kids doctor.

  • Awesome experience as always. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr is the best!

  • The medical assistant or nurse that brought my daughter in was very rude!!! My daughter has been going there and never had an issue. She shouldn't be working with kids because the way she talks to them is not nice!!!

  • Great interactions and atmosphere for my child

  • When being seen the staff was friendly and caring , but the receptionist who booked my sons appointment was extremely rude. She was unprofessional and should not be answering calls with a bad attitude. It seemed to be an inconvenience for her to help me and she gave me the impression that she couldn't be bothered. She really made me think about changing my son to [Name] with my daughters because I don't feel like dealing with her every time I have to bring my son in (which has been often over the last few months for reoccurring heath issues).

  • Great service

  • The doctor I saw during this visit was outstanding . The interaction with my child, and the process of explaining the answer of my concerns was awesome . 10/10 ! Great job. And thank you !

  • Dr Leimart seen him for first time. Patient felt very comfortable and the doctor took the time to explain and discuss medical concerns and even make recommendations on previous medical history. It was evident he took the time to review his medical records prior.

  • The new pediatrician we saw who will be working in Dartmouth and Wareham is amazing. Not great with names but it was honestly the best visit my daughter who is autistic and non verbal has ever had in her life ! Thank you great job !

  • The doctors an nursing staff are Amazing

  • Dr Leimert is extremely kind hearted and knowledgeable. He checked back in with us in a couple days and has been very helpful and comforting. Great addition to the office !

  • Our first time seeing Dr. Leimert. And not is he a gem! He listened to my concerns as a first time mother, explained the diagnosis to me, explained things to my son in a way he would understand. He was silly, efficient, thorough and understanding! Dr. Leimert made myself and my son very comfortable. He is simply amazing!

  • The new doctor was amazing !! So good with my daughter ! We hope to see him in the future! [Name] will be lucky to have him and [Name] on fridays !!!

Southcoast Health physician profiles now feature star ratings.  Below, you’ll find frequently asked questions about our process for calculating the ratings.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
