About Jessica Murphy

Jessica Murphy, FNP-BC graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rhode Island College, before going on to further her medical expertise earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Jessica’s clinical interests involve diabetic management and education, anxiety, weight/obesity management, preventative care/screenings and palliative care.

Jessica’s personal philosophy of care is that she tries to treat every patient the same way she would want her family and loved ones to be cared for. She focuses on being cognizant of the worries, uncertainty and gravity of each healthcare situation so that she can provide the best possible outcome for her patients.

When not at work, Jessica enjoys cooking, hiking, eating out and spending time with her husband and two children.

The NP Jessica is a Gem to this Office, she actively listens, great empathy, her calm voice relaxed me enough for my high blood pressure # to decrease, I have white coat syndrome always. What I find they could do better is to triage calls better, as I am a well senior that was having an event but due to past results of trying to get a sick call I waited as I don't panic but knew I should try to get in, I was seen next morning & now being managed.

The nurse practitioner Jessica was wonderful. She listened to my concerns. She treated me with dignity, grace, and respect as a woman who also works in healthcare. I feel male providers don't fully listen or understand female patients however with Jessica, I felt validated and heard, and I was treated again with the upmost respect, dignity, and grace.

When taking weight, the nurse should remove clothing as part of the total weight. I think it incorrectly inflates BMI and other factors as that was not done, which is wrong in my opinion.

Southcoast Health physician profiles now feature star ratings. Below, you’ll find frequently asked questions about our process for calculating the ratings.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
