About James Watson

Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Watson earned his medical degree and master’s in public health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. He will see patients at Truesdale Medical GI Associates, 1030 President Ave. in Fall River.

Dr. Watson completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, followed by a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

His fields of interest include therapeutic endoscopy, diagnosis and staging of hepato-biliary and gastric malignancy, inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and colon cancer screening.

His publications include the Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

I chose Dr Watson because of his knowledge and willingness to talk to his patients, based on previous visits or procedures with him. I provided, in advance, of the appointment, a detailed PowerPoint presentation to help him understand my medical issue, and he took the initiative to review the same in advance. This resulted in a very efficient consultation. To me, it was a great meeting with my specialist with whom I have much trust. The staff too were very friendly and helpful. My top rated experience with South Coast Gastrology in Fall River actually begun prior to seeing Dr. James Watson. The excellent staff did their best to provide me with an appointment asap for my urgent condition. [Name], in particular was compassionate and patient - Love her!Upon meeting with Dr. Watson, I instantly felt comfortable and was able to relay as much necessary information as possible, which he listened attentively as he took notes. Dr. Watson also suggested new medications to help me achieve a long- needed remission from my decades long Crohn's condition. I couldn't ask for a better doctor and feel very fortunate to be under his care. ("Where have you been all my life, Dr. Watson?!)All in all, from check-in to check- out, the experience went very smooth and beyond my expectations. Even the Lab that day, being quite busy, moved everyone through quite quickly. Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
