About James Watson

Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Watson earned his medical degree and master’s in public health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. He will see patients at Truesdale Medical GI Associates, 1030 President Ave. in Fall River.

Dr. Watson completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, followed by a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

His fields of interest include therapeutic endoscopy, diagnosis and staging of hepato-biliary and gastric malignancy, inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and colon cancer screening.

His publications include the Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

It was difficult to get a timely appointment, and when I reached out several times before the appointment for feedback from my provider I never got a response even when I made it clear to whomever answered at the office that another doctor wanted me to pause the medication this provider had me taking. I would think that when you call a provider's office and make that statement it would trigger a red flag and the provider would at their earliest convenience reach out to discuss what is going on.

The office staff is Always courteous and professional. They answer questions thoroughly and they schedule appointments spaced appropriately. The office is always on time with their scheduling. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to get in and that is only because I get there early. My only complaint is that the phone lines are always busy and it is very difficult to get through.. when a message is left that needs to be answered the office is not quick to get back to you

I asked Dr Watson about recent findings concerning the medication that he had prescribed. He was up to date on the research. He inquired about my current health outside of his specialty and decided to reduce the dosage to see if that would improve orthopedic issues that I've been having. Check in was fast and easy. Dr. Watson was attentive and thorough in reviewing my previous records, and took care to find results of my previous biopsies going through many pages of my previous records. He did a brief check for GI sounds. I was impressed that he called me back in response to a message that I sent to him about an allergy test, and directed me to continue with the test.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
