About Hector Mateo MD
Dr. Mateo received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Pinnacle Health Hospitals in Harrisburg, Pa., where subsequently he was asked to serve as Chief Medical Resident.
He completed a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.
Dr. Mateo has been practicing in the Fall River area since 2007. He specializes in respiratory disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory failure and pulmonary fibrosis.
He also has expertise in the care of critically ill patients and the treatment of sleep disorders.
Dr. Mateo is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine.
He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Mateo is fluent in Spanish.

This was my first time seeing Dr. Mateo. He was very patient with my many questions and explained my case clearly. He really put me at ease.
I was very concerned with my newest health problem, and Dr. Mateo completely explained it to me and that everything that could be done for it was being done. He's truly a very gifted doctor and knows how to explain things in a way that makes you feel very comfortable.

Dr. Mateo was wonderful. So thorough, so kind, so interested. I felt like he really cared about me. And I don't always feel that with providers. The only slight thing was it was a long wait in the office before I saw him, but he was worth it.

The Doctor was fantastic. Very helpful and professional. I explained my situation and he knew what tests I needed to help solve the problem. He also informed my primary Doctor and my two heart Doctors on what was going on. He called me when we heading home with test results. He explained them and contacted Walgreens with a prescription. He amazed my wife and me. He has such a compassionate heart.
