About Hannah Stoops

Dr. Hannah Stoops graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She then furthered her medical expertise, graduating with her Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Dr. Stoops completed her family medicine residency at Brown University Kent Hospital in Pawtucket, RI before finishing her preventative medicine fellowship at the Univeristy of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA.

Dr. Stoops clinical interests are in adolescent medicine, women’s and reproductive health, and preventive medicine. Her personal philosophy of care is focused on taking the time to listen to patients, individualizing patient care, and partnering with her patients to help improve their chronic health conditions and overall health and wellbeing. Dr. Stoops passion for working with a team, in addition to her fascination with science and the human body inspired her to become a physician.

When not at work, Dr. Stoops enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her mini-Australian Shepherd. She also enjoys thrifting and watching the New England Patriots with her family.

  • I didn't have to wait long in the waiting room. The person who checked me in seemed somewhat disorganized, telling me that there was no record of some of my medical information when it was there. Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Stoops was great--this was my initial visit with her and I'm very pleased with her attentiveness and thoroughness.

  • The entire staff in Swansea, MA is amazing! My needs are always met above and beyond my expectations. If there was a grade higher than 10 I would give it.

  • The only thing would be you need to get larger and better seating in your waiting rooms. Larger bodied do not fit in the current chairs.

She often followed up on her responses to ensure that I understood completely. It is obvious that she genuinely cares about the well being of her patients and she made me feel comfortable and confident in the guidance she provided to address my concerns. Once we determined that I needed further specialized testing I asked how soon it could be coordinated - Dr Stoops left the office and called all local hospitals until she secured an appointment that very afternoon. I greatly appreciated the extra effort that Dr Stoops demonstrated and am thankful for her commitment to providing outstanding medical care.

  • During my visit my Provider stated she wanted to see me in Six Months…when I went to check out and make the appointment for my follow up and physical, I was told by the woman checking me out that I cannot make an appointment with my provider as her schedule is blocked out and I would have to call back in 2 months…Never in the 23 years I have been going to Swansea Family Practice have I experienced this…I have always been able to book my Physicals or Follow up appointments before I leave the office. I feel ever since Southcoast merged with Swansea Family Practice the person interaction with patients is completely gone….I will be following up with my Provider regarding the inability to make my appointment for my follow up/physical…..Southcoast needs to doo better with accommodating patients…Especially with those with ongoing health issues

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
