About Christopher Abadi

Dr. Abadi is an Invasive/Non-invasive Cardiologist and the Medical Director of the Echocardiography Labs for Southcoast Health. He is also a member of the Southcoast Heart Valve Team/Structural Heart Program and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Abadi received his Doctor of Medicine from the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine in Burlington, Vt., where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. He completed a clinical research fellowship in Echocardiography at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Abadi is board certified in cardiovascular disease, and all disciplines of Echocardiography. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography.

His areas of special interest are valvular heart disease, aortic disease, and atrial fibrillation. He also has a strong interest in trans-esophageal echocardiography and 3-dimensional echo, providing support for many advanced catheter-based and cardiac surgical procedures.

  • I'm 80 years old and it's getting harder and harder for me to make visits to doctors. Doctors have a lot of patients, and I understand because they are the doctors that they are and they're qualified, everybody wants to see them. But the bottom line is as they have more patients and they do better and they've been around longer time, they don't seem to have the patience with somebody that's 80 years old. And I can understand that, but it's still not very reassuring to me. I need more time, and I need a more patient person. Thank you.

  • You keep referencing a "provider" Dr. Abadi is terrific...the nurses are very good. The office management is poor. I have a feeling that the suit that thought up this "provider" assessment is more interested in self promotion than medicine.Problems: the waiting area is over crowded, one cannot distance as a result, mask enforcement is lax, of the 15 (apx) encountered two han there masks down and two others didn't bother about their nose. There is zero air circulation in the examining rooms. Stale air equals transmission.If you are ever inspected or audited your little management stiff so concerned about "provider" will not fare so well.Again, I want to emphasize the medical staff is first rate...the could use more help.

  • I arrived at your Portsmouth facility at about 4:15 yesterday, (the 1st of Mar.) without an appointment after an appointment with my Heart Dr. He told me my heart was beating out of sync and that I should get a blood test if I could that day! He would then probably have to send me to the hospital to get my heartbeat back in sync. I was turned down by your people who were working at the time as it was to late. I know that they have schedules and that they want to get home but it seems to me that they could have at least called the Drs. office to find out if this was a genuine health issue or not.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
