About Christopher Abadi

Dr. Abadi is an Invasive/Non-invasive Cardiologist and the Medical Director of the Echocardiography Labs for Southcoast Health. He is also a member of the Southcoast Heart Valve Team/Structural Heart Program and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Abadi received his Doctor of Medicine from the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine in Burlington, Vt., where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. He completed a clinical research fellowship in Echocardiography at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Abadi is board certified in cardiovascular disease, and all disciplines of Echocardiography. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography.

His areas of special interest are valvular heart disease, aortic disease, and atrial fibrillation. He also has a strong interest in trans-esophageal echocardiography and 3-dimensional echo, providing support for many advanced catheter-based and cardiac surgical procedures.

  • My doctor knows me. He always ask if anything else is going on that he can help me with. He also notice my blood pressure was elevated more then usual, so I will be going back next week to check it. He is running blood work to make sure my meds are not affecting my kidneys. I say he is right n point when it comes to me. I must say I do like my doctor, he is very nice and easy to understand.

  • Dr. Abadi is very good, knowledgeable, with great bedside manners. However, the front desk is one of the worst I've experienced. When I interact with the admin staff I always feel they are doing me favor. They often seem condescending. The information they provide is skimpy and sometimes incomplete. The system itself is often confusing when making an appointment. The time I am told on the phone is different from the time in the email I receive afterwords. I recently found out that they want the patient to arrive 15 minutes before the actual appointment. I also had a terrible experience once doing a heart sonogram. The technician did not have the right information. It was supposed to use contrast but she didn't agree with the doctor. Finally, they tried to inject the contrast but the nurse couldn't keep the line in my vein, there was blood all over, and gave up after two attempts. I would recommend Dr. Abadi to relatives and friends, but I would warn them about the rest of the staff in the office.

  • Front desk staff tends to be abrasive and not always the most helpful. They tend to need a little prodding to manage questions or concerns. They consistently speak down to patients as if we are too old and stupid to have a normal, intelligent conversation.The rest of the staff is fantastic.

Doctors have a lot of patients, and I understand because they are the doctors that they are and they're qualified, everybody wants to see them. But the bottom line is as they have more patients and they do better and they've been around longer time, they don't seem to have the patience with somebody that's 80 years old. And I can understand that, but it's still not very reassuring to me. I need more time, and I need a more patient person. Thank you.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
