About Charles Eil

Dr. Eil holds a medical degree and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Chicago. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Eil also completed a visiting fellowship in medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

A practicing endocrinologist for over three decades, Dr. Eil is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Diabetes and Endocrine Society of Rhode Island, of which he is president. Dr. Eil is also a retired Captain in the US Naval Reserve.

Dr. Eil is board certified in Internal Medicine and in the subspecialty of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

  • Dr. Eil is very knowledgeable and answers all of my questions. I discussed the Covid 19 vaccine and we Sent over my recent ultrasound results. He forgot to mention those things in his note. I messaged him to please add an addendum as these things are important. He is so busy it's understandable. Too many patients for him to remember everything.

  • I think you do many things well when it comes to patient care. The only suggestion I have is that the office personnel or attending nurses tell me their name. I know they wear name badges but sometimes the badges are turned backwards without the name showing. I feel they have access to all my medical info yet I don't even know their name.

  • I felt totally "safe" in the office of Dr. Eil, whether in the waiting room or exam room. Everyone is masked, everything is clean and I had no qualms being in that setting. Dr. Eil is the the best endrochronologist, and has taken care of me for years. I have been able to get my A1c under 7...usually 6.5...for the past several years. We worked hard, TOGETHER, to achieve this goal.

  • Dr. Eil is so personable and so willing to spend time explaining things and options to you. That I was very happy to be able to meet with him in person and not have to do telehealth again.

  • It has always been a pleasure to talk to him,he has made my condition a lot easier to live with,he's patient,kind and understanding, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him,he made me realize that my health will be with me for the rest of my life and that I needed to take care of it and that is one thing that I ever so needed since the beginning so Thank You.

  • Your greeter at the door was spot on with his directions. Maybe better informed staff at the main lobby desk to direct patients to the correct office would help. I walked all over trying to get to my appointment on time. It would be more helpful if the desk person could read a written direction from reception to give a direction to a location. Everyone was very pleasant and kind, but being a first time patient to your facility and very nervous about my procedure I may not have explained my destination accurately. Once I finally arrived I was fine. I walk with a cane so ended up winded from the extra anxiety.

  • Dr Eil is a brilliant and compassionate doctor I am fortunate to have him

  • I could not really understand the doctor the phone. Phone call went in and out in and out. It could have been a lot better. Bye person.

  • Appointment was timely scheduled and the doctor was knowledgeable and patient answering all our questions.

  • Dr. Eil has always been top notch regarding my care. Dr. Eil listens carefully, and explains plainly and full, answers to all my questions. Never forget the importance of the time it takes to just be human and interact with the patient. Many times in healthcare facilities doctors are on a time clock with minimal time allotted for a patient visit. You often feel like a product on a production line. Not so with Dr. Eil and also Dr. [Name], both doctors are not only excellent technically but take the time to get to know you which helps them diagnose and adjust your healthcare to your life.

  • The only problem is no hands on to check blood pressure and palpitate neck.

  • He noticed my cholesterol was high and I had family history of cholesterol issues / heart issues and prescribed statins, something my previous endocrinologist for 4 years missed.

  • I'm not sure if my appointment for next year has been booked. I will need to logon or call the office. Maybe it should be done during the check in process.

  • The office adhered to all the covid precautions. They also had all my record information and test results together that pertained to that appt, some of them were not from a southcoast location. Im a long term patient there and have always been happy with their care.

  • The thing that I liked so much, even on a virtual telecommunication with Dr. Eil, is it I have a history with him, and so we know each other. So, he knows ... he knows what I need as far as vitamins, and care, and I like the way he tells me not to fall. I like the way that he told me to get a vaccine, and I also like that the nursing staff is so courteous, and will answer any questions that I have. So, thank you very much.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
