About Anna Somerto

Dr. Somerto earned her medical degree at the Turku Medical School at the University of Turku in Finland and completed a residency in neurology at University of California, Los Angeles. She also completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology / epilepsy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

She has special expertise and interest in the treatment of epilepsy and seizures in both adults and adolescents, along with general neurology, including testing for nerve and muscle disorders.

She is board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology (EEG and EMG testing) and sleep medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Epilepsy Society.

I prefer in person Doctor visits but this was a reasonable substitute given my present Migraine situation is pretty good. I had difficulty understanding Dr. Somerto's accent at times but we managed well! She was very thorough and I am happy to be under her care.

This office, the staff and the provider has the best overall attitude, positive attitude and is usually on-time and gets you in and out quickly. They are pleasant and courteous and I have never been treated so well as I have at this office. I can't say enough positive things about the Wareham Southcoast office, other offices should pay attention to how the staff, even the staff that checks you in, handles patients!

Dr. Somerto was thorough. She asked questions regarding prior EMG testing bit their was no record we could access. She requested permission of release to obtain necessary info of prior testing although she was thorough in explaining drs can view results differ.( I hadn't considered that). I look forward to working with her so I can walk prayfully normal again . I will do everywhere recommends. Her staff were as wonderful, efficient and kind as well. I am truly grateful! I think Dr. Somerto is a wonderful physician. She listens well and is focused on discussing a variety of treatment options. Very caring and compassionate.The only weak link was the check-in staff. There were 2 on duty; one seemed to keep her head down and avoid eye contact, whereas the other was involved in a long chat with someone. I was waiting (as the only person in line) for a good 15 minutes. This delayed the doctor's ability to see me and increases inefficiency within the chain of care.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
