About Amanda Kelvey

Dr. Amanda Kelvey, DO MPH earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. Next, she then went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree from Brown University in Providence, RI and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. She completed her residency at the Brown Family Residency Program in Pawtucket, RI.

She sees family medicine as an opportunity to build relationships and strengthen the health of communities in a way that feels more personal and impactful. She prides herself in being reliable and strives to provide nonjudgmental care of the whole person to improve health and quality of life.

When not at work she enjoys reading and listening to books, coloring mandalas, and spending time with her husband and two sons. Together they enjoy soccer and have season tickets for the New England Revolution soccer games at Gillette Stadium.

Dr. Kelvey was timely, gentle and fully knowledgeable. She was patient with me and so kind, as I was nervous for my appointment to the point of tears. She explained every single part of the process, what she was doing before and again as she did it. Her support and complete willingness to do things for me in ways that were more comfortable for me, listen intently to my concerns and order testing and referrals with no issues- was so refreshing and really shifted my perspective and fear levels on going to my PCP and taking better care of my health. It's amazing to have a Provider that was kind and not miserable to be there. She did not once gaslight me, like past providers and tell me it's just in my head, it's not what I have, ect. She truly seems to care for her patients and their concerns.Dr. Kelvey is an incredible provider and I hope to be a life-long patient of hers. 10/10 no other notes. :)

Dr. Kelvey was very thorough. She went through my history with me very well. She understood current concerns with my health that I was having and put a plan in place. Did labs. I was also able to get a 3 month follow up with no problem. From start to finish I'm happy to have found a good primary care office and physician.

Dr Kelvey was great. She explained everything well, went over all of my issues and was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was specifically impressed that she sent me a message before the appointment to tell me my blood work results came in (which I'd already seen on MyChart) and that the results were non-urgent and we'd discuss them at my appointment. It let me know that she had reviewed them and if something was serious she'd have let me know.

Not really sure if you could improve on my experience. I arrived a wee bit early. I was seeing exactly when I was supposed to be seeing my appointment was on time. Everyone in the office was courteous and helpful and my primary care doctor was thoughtful and attentive.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
