About Abena Addo

Dr. Addo earned her medical degree at the University of Ghana Medical School. She then completed an internship in pediatrics, surgery and internal medicine at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana, followed by an internal medicine internship at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Addo completed her residency in internal medicine at St. Agnes Hospital.

Dr. Addo is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her clinical interests include travel medicine and preventive care. She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the International Society of Travel Medicine

  • Dr was running behind. I arrived at the office waiting area of the doctor 10 minutes early. After waiting for 20 minutes after my appointment time and not being acknowledged by any office staff I went to the office window knocked and told the person sitting at the desk that I had an appointment time 20 minutes ago and wanted to know how much longer it would be. I was told then that the doctor was running late. I should have been told that before I had to ask. Apparently my time means nothing!

  • I had not seen a Docter since DR.[Name] left. My new DR.Addo was kind and thorough. I like that the office checks up on me monthly by the phone to see that I.m doing ok.

  • Nothing wrong with tele health but it will be better that the doctor examined the patient in person.

  • I have no suggestions for improving experience. Dr. Addo is a patient, caring, knowledgable clinician and I am very grateful she is my PCP. She takes plenty of time with me; I do not always agree with her plan, she listens and works with me; making clear risks of not doing certain things. I cannot recommend her highly enough!! Thank you Dr. Addo.PS I do not usually do surveys; but this was different because of the care provider.

  • I had a great visit with Dr. Addo. She was very thorough, but as to the covid vaccine and hospitals not being able to administer it. I think that's a big misstep on the part of the state. Thank you.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
