The Southcoast Health contract for medical reimbursement with the insurance provider Cigna was set to expire on December 31, 2018.

Southcoast Health understands how disruptive this could be to your health care. Because of this, we signed a temporary contract extension agreement with Cigna that will keep you covered for any Southcoast Health service or facility through March 31, 2019.

We are continuing to negotiate with Cigna in the hopes of agreeing upon a contract that fairly compensates our physicians, providers and organization for the exceptional care and service they provide you, with terms that are comparable to other providers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

If we do not come to an agreement with Cigna, Southcoast Hospitals Group, Southcoast Physicians Group, Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association, and Southcoast Health Network-affiliated physicians will become out-of-network providers for Cigna health insurance, as of April 1, 2019, and Cigna may not reimburse Southcoast for the cost of your care.

Please note that patients with Tufts Carelink/Cigna are not affected by these negotiations and will continue with their current coverage.
