Celebrating 25 Years of People Who Care: Meet Peter Sears

For many of us, the temperature of a room during a hospital stay or the precise airflow and humidity levels of hospital areas are an afterthought. However, thanks to Peter Sears, HVAC Mechanic at Charlton Memorial Hospital, and the incredible Engineering and Facilities teams, our patients and staff can rest assured that the hospital climate and facilities are kept in tip-top shape.

Peter has been an employee at Southcoast Health for six years. Born and raised in Fall River, he has always worked within the community and is proud to have earned his current role at the hospital.

“The normal day-to-day activities depend on the workload of the service calls we receive each day. “It’s often adjusting patient room temperature, operating room humidity levels, air conditioner cleanings and upkeep, and other preventative maintenance,” Peter says. “There’s so much that goes into the work because it is a large facility.”

According to Peter, his team is committed to seeing each project and request through.

“We try to go above and beyond and do as much as we can,” he says. “We want to make sure that there are no problems once the patient is in the room so they can heal and receive the care they need.”

Peter has always felt compelled to go beyond and give back to the community through the Southcoast Health Annual Fund.

“I give because I know that’s a small part that I can play in. It can make a real difference,” Peter says. “I know it’s always good to give back with everything you do – whether it be time or money.”

Southcoast is thankful to have Peter and all that he does for our hospital facilities.
