Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital awards $5,000 in scholarships to Greater Fall River students

Southcoast Health announced today that the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital awarded five $1000 scholarships to Greater Fall River students who are pursuing careers in healthcare.

Marcia Liggin, Scholarship Chair and President for the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital, presented the awards to:

  • Thomas Brown, a graduate of Westport Jr/Sr High School, who will be attending Brown University in Providence, R.I. to pursue pre-med.
  • Barbara Ferreira, a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, who will be attending the University of Massachusetts, Amherst to pursue pre-med.
  • Jasmine Manteiga, a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, who will be attending the University of New England in Biddeford, M.E. in the physician assistant program.
  • Cabot Priestner, a graduate of Westport Jr/Sr High School, who will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he will study Biomedical Engineering.
  • Bailey Wilkinson, a Westport Jr/Sr High School, who will enter the nursing program at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H.

The Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital, founded in 1956, is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to render services to Charlton Memorial Hospital, its tax-exempt subsidiaries, and its patients and to assist in promoting health and welfare of the community.  Members serve as ambassadors to the community on behalf of the hospital.
