About Thomas Atwood
Thomas M. Atwood earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2017. He then completed his internship and family medicine residency at the Brown University Family Medicine Program in Pawtucket, RI. During his residency, he completed clinical work and research on diabetes management.
Dr. Atwood’s clinical interests include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, chronic disease management, and complex care coordination. He was motivated to become a doctor through the exceptional medical professionals who cared for him when he was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of twelve. In this way, his clinical work is inspired by his own personal experience.
Dr. Atwood’s personal philosophy of care is to walk with each of his patients on their unique journey through sickness and health. He chose to practice family medicine as it allows him to provide family-centered care for patients of all ages and from all walks of life.
Outside of work, Dr. Atwood enjoys playing board and card games, and spending time with his wife and children. He also actively volunteers in his local church community.
