About Samantha Roy

Samantha earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, in Dartmouth, Ma. She them went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

She believes in a holistic approach to patient care and in building a trusting patient-provider relationship. She feels that these two components are necessary to help patients achieve positive outcomes.

Her personal relationships with nurses and nurse practitioners were a big inspiration to her having become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She admires the way they encompassed a trusting relationship and the wealth of knowledge they always seemed to have.

To her, being a nurse practitioner allows her to be able to treat patients across the lifespan, she believes it fosters a trusting long-term patient-provider relationship.

Samantha grew up and has family in the south coast. She started her nursing career right here at Southcoast Health while in nursing school. She then continued at Southcoast, upon graduating, as an RN. Today, she continues as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their dog. Together they enjoy spending time in the outdoors, boating, hiking, and skiing.

In the pass I end up having a doctor who doesn't listen to me or really invest anytime because I am not their normal person. Today They booked me with this Np named Samantha. This is the first real time I have seen another provider for a pcp appt that listened to me and made me feel comfortable. I left feeling heard and taken care of. Someone who looked at all the data and read [Name] notes. She took the time to get to know me even if she doesn't see me again. Rx sent to mail order pharmacy in error BUT was asked and confirmed, short term meds at local pharmacy and maintenance meds from mail order as required by health insurance. Unfortunately this has been a recurring problem with Southcoast. I'm asked and still get it wrong. Frustrating

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
