About Robert Schwengel

Dr. Schwengel has been in the practice of general and invasive cardiology with Cardiovascular Associates of Rhode Island since 1993. He received his doctor of medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Science in Washington.

Dr. Schwengel completed his fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. Dr. Schwengel is board certified in cardiovascular disease, adult echocardiography and stress echocardiography. He has special interests in coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and valvular heart disease.

  • I am older so I like face to face contact and my blood pressure machine wasn't working right. I think at least a once a year personal visit would be good.I know at this time it isn't possible but blood pressure and EKG can't be done on a virtual visit

  • Even, and especially, given the distancing (talking with cardiologist Dr. Schwengel by phone) required due to coronavirus, exceptional efforts were made by him and the office staff in affording this connection. So helpful,and accommodative of questions and communications...not just instructions.

Speaks to you and language you understand explained anything that you have questions on make sure that you're you are questions are answered before you leave very personable. Not one of those doctors that walks in does his thing and leaves and doesn't talk to you. He's excellent and and give them a 100 instead of a 10.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
