About Jason Salter

Dr. Salter earned his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, after which he completed an internship and residency in family medicine at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. He serves as an assistant professor of community and family medicine at the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University.

Dr. Salter’s clinical interests include preventive medicine and nutrition, as well as health education.

He is board certified in family medicine.

I was not in a great mood about this appointment. I waited almost a year on a waitlist for a primary care doctor when mine retired. Dr salter was incredibly personable, moreso than I recall any doctor I've been to previously. We exchanged information pleasantly and relevant to my health. He made me laugh more than once, was patient, and talked me into a colonoscopy. He was almost worth the waitu00A0

Dr. Jason Salter has always been a great doctor to me. He has always listened to me. He doesn't push medication. He tries to find alternate ways to figure out my health problems, such as seeing specialists. I really appreciate everything he's done for me. Dr. Salter (my PCP) is hands down the best doctor I have ever had. One of his best assets is his ability to listen to my concerns and to respond accordingly. This came into play back in 2017 where I credit Dr. Salter with saving my life, due to the fact he listened to something that I had thought was of minimal concern. It turned out to be strongly concerning and detrimental to my health. As a result, I was able to have a life saving procedure.

They do everything while they're there. And then when I went to schedule another appointment, the young lady who helped me there was very kind and courteous. Dr Salter and the Southcoast Family Health Team are always courteous, knowledgeable sensitive and totally focused on what is best for my healthcare and needs as a chronic disease patient. Managing someone with a chronic illness isn't always easy but they make it seem seamless. Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
