About Hector Lopez-Marquez MD
Dr. Hector Lopez attended Cornell University before earning his doctorate from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Lopez then chose to train at the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed a residency in Anesthesiology, followed by a Fellowship in Pain Medicine. Having connections to the New York State and the Greater Boston areas, he is excited to have the opportunity to join the Southcoast Health System serving the southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island communities.
Dr. Lopez’s philosophy of care is rooted in the belief that all patients who suffer from chronic pain deserve care that is compassionate, thoughtful, evidence-based, and integrative in nature. Dr. Lopez treats each patient in the context of their unique biopsychosocial situation and approaches each individual patient as a whole that is more than any one individual medical diagnosis.
He is board certified in both Pain Management and Anesthesiology.

Dr Lopez is a great listener and communicates the information in a manner I can understand. The only downside is trying to get an appointment in a timely manner is difficult. He would need to be cloned.

Get better doctors. Make sure they are examining their patients according to their practice. Don't let the doctors ignore past treatments from a provider who left the practice abruptly. These treatments are for a reason. This was a second opinion?

Dr. Lopez-Marquez was amazing. He was so patient with me and listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. Together we came up with a treatment plan and a second and third course of action if the others didn't work. I never felt rushed and unheard by him. He treated me with compassion, empathy and respect. I am truly grateful to have him as part of my medical team.
